FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS



Q. How long is the School day?

A. A typical day is from 9:00 AM to 2:30 PM. It is similar to the public schools schedules and holidays.


Q. Are students able to return to a regular school program?

A. A multi-sensory approach is used with individualized, modified techniques. Our goal is to prepare students for re-entry into public education. For those who continue to require our enhanced program, added emphasis is placed on the development of life skills.


Q. How do you deal with children with behavioral difficulties?

A. Each class uses the Lee Carter Assertive Discipline Behavior Management Program. This is a positive reinforcement program focusing on the development of appropriate behavior. Individualized behavior management programs are developed as needed and are included in the child's I. E. P.



Q. What type of communication is utilized between home and school?

A. Communication between school and home is the key to any child's success. Our elementary teachers use a home/school communication book which goes back and fourth between home and school daily. High School students develop responsibility for bringing notices, notes, and permission slips as needed. Teachers use a newsletter on a monthly basis describing some of their upcoming activities, trips, and academic themes. Monthly parent letters are also sent home from the administration highlighting school wide events and information. Parent conferences are held in both November and March. Year-End Reports are sent home in June
